Simmer Creators is our program of paid visits for food creators. This part says what it collects about you, why, who sees it and for how long. It applies to creators only.

What we collect

  • When you apply: your name and email; your social accounts, with their handles and follower counts; a post that shows your work; the food you cover and the neighbourhoods you go to; any dietary needs you tell us; and that you're 19 or older and agree to the creators' agreement, with when you agreed.
  • Once you're in: the visits you claim, cancel and make; the links to your posts, and whether they went up on time; any no-shows or late posts; the email address your fees go to, and what we've paid you.

Why

To decide on your application; to show you invites that suit your food, your areas and your following; to book your visits and remind you about them; to check your posts and pay you; and to keep the program fair, since your record is how we choose who sees new invites first. We collect only what those need.

Who sees it

  • The restaurant you're booked at: your name, your handle and how many are coming, the day before your visit, and the link to your post once it's up. Restaurants never see your pay, your email or your record.
  • Other creators: nothing about you.
  • Simmer's team: Ziri, Rayan and Anwar, in our office, to run the program.
  • The services that host our site and send our email, only to do that for us.
  • Your posts are public on your own accounts. The restaurant may reshare them; it may never run them as ads.

How long we keep it

  • An application we decline: one year, then we delete it. The Act asks us to keep what we used to make a decision about you for at least a year (section 35).
  • While you're a creator: all of it, so your visits and your pay add up.
  • After you leave: what we paid you, for six years, as Canada's tax rules require. The rest we delete once we no longer need it.

Your choices

  • See and change your accounts, food, areas, dietary needs and payout email in your profile, and pause invites any time.
  • Ask for a copy of what we hold about you, or for a correction (sections 23 and 24 of the Act). We answer within 30 days (section 29).
  • Leave Simmer Creators: tell us and we close your account. You can withdraw your consent at any time with reasonable notice (section 9), except for what the law makes us keep, like your fees.

We keep all of it secure, as the Act asks (section 34), and we never sell it.
