Simmer Creators
Our
agreement.
What you agree to when you apply to Simmer Creators, in plain words. The four rules on Apply, written out in full.
âš Draft. A lawyer can read it before launch (optional). Open: Simmer Studio's legal name; the limits of 2 visits at a time and 4 a month; what happens when a meal goes over its amount; how and when fees are paid; how long a post stays up; whether a meal's value counts as income for tax (the accountant); who is responsible for what at the visit
Who it's between
This agreement is between you and Simmer Studio, 1283 Howe Street, Vancouver, BC. You agree to it when you tick it on Apply, and we keep the date and time you did. You must be 19 or older.
How visits work
- Each invite comes by email the moment it drops. Each one shows the restaurant, the times, the meal, what to post and your fee.
- Picking a time holds it for 5 minutes while you read the details. Confirm it and it's yours.
- You can have up to 2 visits booked at a time, and 4 in a month.
Showing up
- A claim is a promise. If you can't make it, cancel in My visits at least 24 hours before, and the spot goes back to other creators.
- Within 24 hours you can't cancel in My visits: write to Ziri at admin@simmerstudio.ca. A visit you miss is a no-show: no fee, and it goes on your record.
- Tell the host you're with Simmer Creators, and bring only the guests the invite allows.
The meal
Your meal is on the house, for you and one guest when the invite says so, up to the amount the invite shows.
Your post
- Post what the invite asks, where it asks, within 7 days of your visit, or the days the invite gives.
- Tag the restaurant, and post as a Collab when the invite asks.
- Mark it as paid. Turn on the platform's paid partnership label, and put #Ad where people see it without tapping more. In a video, say it too.
- Say what you really thought. Don't claim anything you didn't see or taste.
- Paste your links in My visits once it's up.
Your fee
- Each invite shows your fee before you claim it. It's yours once your post is up and Simmer has checked it.
- We pay it by Interac e-Transfer to the email in your profile.
- No post, or a no-show, means no fee.
- You're responsible for your own taxes. If you're registered for GST/HST, tell us your number and we'll add it to your fee.
Your content
- Your posts are yours. You keep the copyright.
- You let the restaurant and Simmer reshare your post as you posted it, crediting you, on their own social accounts. Nobody may run it as an ad, or edit it into something else, without asking you first.
- We'll ask before we show your post on simmerstudio.ca.
Working together
- You're an independent creator, not Simmer's employee. You choose which invites to claim, and you're free to work with anyone else.
- Be good to the restaurant's team and its guests.
- A restaurant can ask us not to send you again. If it does, its invites stop showing for you.
- We may pause or end your place in Simmer Creators if you miss visits, often post late, or break this agreement. You can leave any time. Either way, we pay what you've earned.
Your information
What we keep about you, who sees it and for how long: Privacy, if you're a Simmer creator.
Changes, and the law
- If we change this agreement, we'll email you at least 30 days before the change applies. Claiming a visit after that means you accept it.
- The laws of British Columbia apply.
- Questions: admin@simmerstudio.ca.
What each part rests on
So you can see why each part is here.
- 19 or older: British Columbia's age of majority is 19, and its Infants Act (section 19) says a contract made with someone younger can't be enforced against them.
- Mark it as paid, #Ad: The Competition Act (sections 52 and 74.01: no misleading representations), the Competition Bureau's guidance on influencer marketing, and Ad Standards' Influencer Marketing Disclosure Guidelines (October 2025): #Ad, and a platform's paid partnership label where it's prominent.
- Say what you really thought: The Competition Bureau: reviews must be honest and come from the reviewer's own experience.
- Your posts are yours; the reshare: The Copyright Act (section 13: the author owns the copyright first). The reshare is a permission you give here, and it never covers ads.
- An independent creator: The Supreme Court of Canada's test for who is in business for themselves (671122 Ontario Ltd. v. Sagaz Industries, 2001): you choose your work, use your own tools and take your own chances.
- Taxes and GST/HST: The Excise Tax Act: someone with more than $30,000 of taxable sales over four quarters must register and charge GST/HST.
- Your information: British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act.
- The emails we send you: Canada's anti-spam law (CASL, section 6): who sent it, how to reach us, and a way to unsubscribe.
- Visits, the 5-minute hold, 24 hours, 7 days, the fee: Simmer Creators' own rules.
